About

The Never-Ending Archive is a growing library collected and edited by Dutch graphic designer Rosan Dekker. It’s a series of archives, each celebrating the beauty of found footage.

The project began in 2013 with a compilation of advertisement clippings from a newspaper. The act of collecting turned out to be rather addictive; over the years, it slowly evolved beyond advertisements, moving to kites, shadows, wrapping papers, and more.
Is there a common thread? I’m not sure. The collections are neither functional nor hierarchical. They are simply bound by personal preference, by the wonder they provide me. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. If you’d like to share something, please reach out to me at rosan@studiohudson.nl

For more information about my graphic design work, have a look at the Publications page or visit the portfolio website of Studio Hudson, my design agency.
If you’re curious about digital archives yourself, have a look at the Internet Archive, an incredible non-profit library that holds millions of books. They do amazing work preserving historical footage. Beyond that, I also love to browse through the archives from Europeana, the Library of Congress, Wikimedia Commons, Digital Public Library of America, and HathiTrust.
